The Final Round Up: 3 Heartwarming things that $6000 can do!
A mere 5 months ago the people of Melbourne opened up their hearts and spread their arms and decided to give one huge Cuddle For Colombia.
It’s time to finally announce the outcome of our sell-out fundraiser at THE APARTMENT, Lonsdale St, Melbourne. Drinks were sipped, canapés were nibbled and we all overdosed on hugs, but most of all we are proud to say that a grand total of $6000 was raised for a grassroots charity in an impoverished area of Colombia. Go world!
Donations were sent directly to a volunteer-run school in Santa Marta, Colombia where young children are provided with free education. Your donations have created a kitchen for children who come to school hungry, and put food on their plates:
The new kitchen at Fundacion Mariposas, Colombia
Your donations have allowed new facilities to be built, including running water for the first time
This child has access to reading and writing equipment due to the kindness of everyone who donated to the Fundacion Mariposas Amarillas (Yellow Butterfly Foundation). In this video, student Gustavo reads the story he wrote for Nat, the founder of Hugs for Change.
Our first stupendous milestone has been smashed! We are proud to say that hugs are truly changing the world for the better, and can’t wait to see what else the kindness of the world can achieve. Until then, keep hugging and don’t forget to follow the Yellow Butterfly Foundation for your daily dose of adorable!
